Assistantships may be available for students to work in a wide variety of research areas. Student thesis projects range from basic research on host responses and pathogen biology to applied research on disease control at field research stations.
Positions are limited and students are individually selected by faculty members with matching interests who have an opening for a graduate student; research assistantships are primarily funded by grants.
Stipends for M.S. students are $1629.50 per month for a half-time 12-month appointment and include a tuition waiver and health insurance.
Stipends for Ph.D. students are $1729.00 per month for a half-time 12-month appointment and include a tuition waiver and health insurance.
U.S. citizens who have a GPA of 3.5 or above and meet other qualifying conditions may be eligible for a prestigious ARCS fellowship, which provides $7,500 the first year and $5,000 for two consecutive years (in addition to any research or teaching assistantships received). All eligible applicants will be considered; nominations are limited.
