CONGRATULATIONS TO Billie Espejo Juan a MS in Ag student, for passing her defense exam on Friday, Nov. 15th. Billie’s committee was chaired by Dr. Lindsey du Toit, and Drs. Tobin Peever, Maren Friesen, and Ronald Walcott (University of Georgia) served on her committee. Billie works in the Plant Disease and Microbiology research groups at AgBiome LLC in Research Triangle Park, NC, a biological control company. Billie worked full-time while completing her MS in Ag degree over the past two years. Her research project was titled ‘Screening of putative biological control agents for antibiosis against the bacterial fruit blotch pathogen, Acidovorax citrulli.’ In addition to completing courses in the MS in Ag program, Billie traveled to Washington State to take Field Plant Pathology (PLP 525) in the summer of 2018, and completed Phytobacteriology (PLP 514) in the fall of 2018. We wish Billie all the best in her continuing career in plant pathology and biocontrol.
