Zenta Nishio is currently working with the Plant Pathology department at Washington State University on the research of snow mold disease in winter wheat. He came to Pullman in October of 2002 and will be finished at the end of April 2003. Zenta is a researcher with the National Agricultural Research Center for Hokkaido Region. He decribes his research below:

"In the central region of Washington State and Hokkaido Japan, winter wheat suffers from snow mold disease. The objective of my study is developing an evaluation method for snow mold disease resistance, for the acceleration of resistance breeding."


Plant Pathology Graduate Appointed as the University of Jordan President

Dr. Abdullah Al- Musa has been appointed as the University of Jordan President upon the Royal Decree Issuance on Tuesday the 12th of February 2002.

Dr. Rogers Celebrates 40 Years

The Department of Plant Pathology honored
Dr. Jack Rogers for his 40 years of service to the University. Many people came to congratulate him including Dean Jim Zuiches of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics. There were many other friends and colleagues there to congratulate and celebrate with him.

• Invited Guest Speaker for PLP 515 Spring Seminar Series

Chris Upper, Professor Emeritus from the Department of Plant Pathology and USDA-AS, Plant Disease Resistance Research Unit, University of Wisconsin, Madison was invited by the Graduate Student Class to be the guest speaker for the PLP 515 Spring Seminar. The title of his seminar was, "An odyssey with Pseudomonas syringae Through Bean Fields and Plant Pathology."
