Q. How do I start the application process?
A. The first step is to complete an application using the WSU Graduate School online application. In addition to the Graduate School's application, you will need to send a Personal Statement, describing research interests and career goals directly to the department.

Q. When is the application deadline?
A. The application deadline for Fall is January 10 and for Spring is July 1
Q. Do I need to take the GRE?
No.
Q. Are assistantships available?
Yes, see list of those currently available in the Department.
Q. Are international students eligible for assistantships?
Yes, all students having a 3.0 GPA (or higher) are eligible for an assistantship.
Q. Do I need a MS in order to apply for a PhD?
Yes.
Q. Do faculty at Research and Extension Centers supervise graduate students?
Yes.
Q. What is the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score required?
If you graduated from another US institution within 2 years of coming to WSU, the TOEFL will be waived. Otherwise, the minimum required scores are below (Department would prefer to see higher scores):
Paper-based TOEFL: 550
Computer-based TOEFL: 213
Internet-based TOEFL: 80
IELTS: 7 (Department would prefer 8)
