Diseases of small cereal grain crops, especially wheat. Ecology, epidemiology, and control of soilborne plant pathogens, including cultural, chemical, and disease resistance. Genetics of disease resistance and the use of alien species as sources of disease resistance genes. Mapping and tagging disease resistance genes with molecular markers.

General Plant Pathology - PlP 429/529. Development of the concepts and definition of terminology associated with the classification, symptoms, causes, epidemiology, and control of plant diseases. Specific diseases are used to illustrate the concepts and terminology of the science of to plant pathology. Diagnosis and control of specific plant diseases are not emphasized in this course.
