Research Specialty and Interests
Foliar diseases of cereal crops, especially wheat and barley. Epidemiology and control of rusts and smuts, including cultural, chemical, and disease resistance. Evolution and population of stripe rust. Host-pathogen interactions. Identification and characterization of resistant germplasm. Genetics of disease resistance. Development of molecular markers and methods for mapping and cloning genes for resistance to stripe rust. Improvement of rust resistance in wheat and barley cultivars using marker-assisted selection and other methods.
