Lili Huang, professor and associate dean of the College of Plant Protection, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, China, recently visited the Department of Plant Pathology, Washington State University (WSU). Her visit was supported by China Scholarship Council and hosted by Xianming Chen, research plant pathologist of USDA-ARS and adjunct professor of WSU. During her visit, she interacted with faculty, postdoctoral associates, and students of the department; visited facilities; and participated in stripe rust research. Her research is in the field of ecological plant pathology focusing on epidemiology and management of wheat and apple diseases. She presented a seminar entitled “Control of Apple Valsa Canker”, covering her research progress in the etiology and genomics of the pathogen, epidemiology of the disease, and development and implementation of new management strategies.
