Plant Pathology Faculty Selected as the Associate Dean, WSU Graduate School
Dr. Lori Carris, associate professor in the department, was appointed as the Associate Dean of WSU Graduate School effective July 16th, 2013. Dr. Carris will be part of the graduate school leadership team and will provide oversight to several interdisciplinary PhD programs, policy and planning. She will continue to be a member of the Department of Plant Pathology and maintain teaching and research activities.
Dr. Carris received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the APS and the William H. Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Mycological Society of America (MSA). At WSU, she has served as liaison, Association for Faculty Women since 2005. At WSU, she was the recipient of the 2007 Mentor of the Year award, the 2009 Woman of Distinction Award, the 2010 Association of Faculty Women Samuel H. Smith Leadership Award, the 2010 CAHNRS R. M. Wade Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award, and the 2012 Sahlin Faculty Excellence Award for Instruction. She was elected Executive Vice President of the MSA in 2012.
